Web Operations Engineer

The GENERATOR team within Sony DADC is responsible for creating customer-facing applications and web experiences that allow entertainment brands and media assets to connect directly to fans. In a rapidly evolving digital space, the group is responsible for exploring new opportunities and defining the future of digital discovery and consumption. The GENERATOR network supports hundreds of web properties, generates millions of dollars in revenue, and spans platforms such as ecommerce, mobile distribution, artist websites, social networking, media streaming, and more.

  1. Responsibilities:
  2. • Provide infrastructure support services by performing daily support tasks such as, but not limited to, Drupal and WordPress sites provision, promoting and deploying code changes in various environments.
  3. • Operational management of Linux servers running Apache, Nginx, MySQL, PHP and associated technologies.
  4. • Test, debug and troubleshoot platform level problems, identify and isolate problematic software to assist the development team and systems administrators with fault resolution.
  5. • Monitor servers and application performance.
  6. • Provide DNS, SSL certificate and Domain management.
  7. • Support the development team with deployment and production config for their applications.
  8. • Support the senior operations staff and their project based work.
  9. • Participate in daily scrum meetings with them to identify infrastructure level support required for all upcoming and in progress projects.
  10. • Collaborate with US and EU infrastructure services team; hand over level 3 tasks and serve as back-up for level 1 and level 2 tasks.
  11. • Share on-call duties.
  1. Requirements:
  2. • Strong experience in building Linux systems (RHEL, Centos , Fedora) in high availability.
  3. • Drupal and WordPress sites administration experience.
  4. • Solid understanding of web application architecture, including TCP/IP and HTTP.
  5. • Knowledge of Linux, MySQL, Apache, PHP, Amazon Web Services, and PHP framework.
  6. • Business acumen and an understanding of how role links to larger business focus.
  7. • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  8. • Must be proactive, collaborative, and organized.
  9. • Experience with cloud technologies, Amazon AWS product such as EC2, VPC, RDS, ELB, EBS, S3 and Cloud front, is preferred.

Sr. Platform Software Engineer

The Platform Software Engineering team creates tools to power our clients’ websites.  Engineers on this team require a broad understanding of internet-based technologies. We customize and integrate existing software modules for the various platforms we support. Additionally, we integrate with third-party vendor services.

  1. Requirements:
  2. Experience with Ruby (MRI & JRuby, version 1.9.x), Rails (version 3.x), Javascript, MySQL (or comparable RDBMS), and NoSQL (Redis or MongoDB) knowledge is a plus
  3. Experience with test-driven development
  4. Experience in pair programming
  5. Continuous integration
  6. at least five (5) years experience designing and building consumer-facing software systems
  7. Experience mentoring junior team members is also desired.
Technical Project Manager

The Technical Project Manager oversees the development and deployment of our proprietary Ruby on Rails platform. Critical to this position is the vision to create a robust & structured, yet flexible, platform that meets the needs of our ever-expanding client-base both locally and abroad.

  1. Responsibilities:
  2. Assess and define scope, needed resources, and coordinate and manage both internal and external personnel
  3. Plan, monitor, report, and administer the execution of multiple projects
  4. Manage and develop master project schedules
  5. Understand priorities, quality goals, delivery within budget, and time constraints
  6. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and development teams on product/project roadmaps and needs
  7. Generate and maintain technical scope and system documentation as well as development backlogs
  8. Schedule and oversee design and/or code reviews
  9. Review team progress and identify opportunities for process and team improvement
  10. Provide accurate and timely updates to management
  1. Requirements:
  2. Bachelor's Degree, preferable in Computer Science or related field
  3. 3 or more years Project Management experience
  4. 2-5 years' experience in Information Technology
  5. Direct experience as a developer using several of the following technologies relevant to our business: Ruby on Rails, PHP, JavaScript
  6. Possesses strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills
  7. Ability to interact, direct, and influence cross-functional teams that span the organization
